Jesse Ziff Cool has been dedicated to sustainable agriculture and cuisine since 1975 as a writer, restaurateur, spokesperson, and consultant for eco-conscious food service, waste management, food justice, and social and corporate responsibility in the food industry. She is the author of seven cookbooks, most recently Simply Organic. She has operated many restaurants since 1976. Currently, her focus is on Flea Street, which is nearly 45 years old. At her home garden and kitchen, Jesse works with Stanford’s Department of Education, inspiring elementary student teachers on how to build curriculum from the garden with a one-pot, no-recipe, and ten-ingredient program. She was a consultant for many years, working with Stanford Hospital and Sodexo on healthy food options for patient care and hospital staff. Currently, she enjoys cooking at home with friends and family — and having a martini every night to toast life!
